The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter melts your makeup right off!

I’ve never been the ultimate skincare guru even though I’d really like to be. I know that looking after your skin will definately stand you better than buying expensive makeup in the long run. So, that’s why this year I set out to learn more about skincare to hopefully put myself in better standing for the future. But two things I’ve always believed in and practiced when it comes to skincare is wearing sunscreen and never, ever sleeping with makeup on. I am religious about these rules! Now I know, this is easier said than done because who wants to take off makeup after a long day and your bed is calling? Well I’ve found a product that makes taking off makeup easy. Enter the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter!

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is a makeup remover. It has been formulated for sensitive skin and works very similarly to a cleansing oil. The product is very similar to Cliniques Take the Day Off balm, and works well at dissolving long-wearing makeup.

From The Body Shop website:

This cleanser is an indulgent make-up remover for the whole face. It gently and efficiently melts away make-up and impurities, leaving skin feeling clean, refreshed and pampered.

Formula

Like you’d expect from any product with the word “butter” in it, it’s very silky smooth and soft. It has a very nice and light smell. It is very soft to the touch, and turns to oil when you rub it on your face.  The oil formula makes it fantastic for stubborn, waterproof products like mascara so it’s definitely my go-to on days of wearing heavy makeup!

Skintypes

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter markets this product as suitable for all skin types. But I think it might work better on dry and combination skin, as well as those with sensitive skin. It is also suitable for contact lens wearers – no foggy eyes!

The reason I say I’m not sure if works for all skin types is the formula. The shea butter and wax could be potentially be problematic for oily and acne-prone skin, so I’d recommend that if you use it you definitely cleanse again afterwards to ensure the oily residue does not sit on your skin.

Fragrance

This product has very little fragrance. It ha a very soft camomile scent.

Packaging

The butter comes in a round metal tub with a neat label on the top. Like most products from the Body Shop, the packaging is simple and beautiful.

How does the product work?

The butter works very simply! You take a small amount and rub in circular motion onto dry skin (on top of make up if you’re wearing any!). You can then take a muslin cloth in warm water and gently wipe away the product. If you don’t have a cloth, just use your hands and wipe with some cotton pads afterwards. It’s very gentle so don’t worry about getting the product in your eyes.

Like a cleansing oil, you can feel this butter break down your makeup, including mascara!

What do I think??

Personally, I really enjoy this product. I bought it based on some very positive reviews I’d seen online and from fellow bloggers. I wear quite heavy makeup and I find it takes off all traces of makeup, including SPF and heavy eye/brow makeup, without leaving behind a residue. However for me using this is just a step in my beauty routine. I double cleanse every night so I don’t leave the product on. But, I know some ladies with dry skin say leaving the left-behind thin oil actually moisturizes their skin, so that could work for you! So all in all, I think that cleansing butters are very nourishing on the skin and don’t leave your skin feeling dry or tight. I really like this product and give it a thumbs up!

Price

R210 for a 90ml tub. However, I must say a little goes a long way. I’ve had the product for several months now and it’s showing no signs of being even half way used.

Will I buy this product again?

Yes. I wear makeup basically everyday and wear several coats of mascara! This product works so well on stubborn mascara and doesn’t strip my skin at all. I also find it’s so great for when you’re travelling and don’t want to lug around three different make-up removers. So for me, this product works like a charm.

Overall Score: 9/10

I bought the cleansing butter a few weeks ago, but haven’t had the chance to use it yet!

Yes and the blogger struggle is that we need to take photographs too before we can use the products…. 🙂 !

I’m using the Pink Cos one now and it’s awesome, will be sure to give the body shop cleansing butter a try bcos I feel this type of product works better for my skin versus cleansing liquids.
    TY for the great review
